Hip-hop lovers around the country will be thrilled to know that the seventh annual South African Hip Hop Awards will be broadcast on SABC 1 on Saturday, 29 December 2018. The awards show took place on Wednesday, 19 December 2018, at Gold Reef City in Johannesburg.
Popular South African rapper, Kwesta, walked away as the biggest winner of the night, with six awards including the coveted Song Of The Year, Video Of The Year and Best Collaboration for his hit single, ‘Spirit,’ alongside American hip-hop sensation Wale.
Following the song’s success on the night, fans took to social media to congratulate the two rappers, which led to Wale acknowledging the song’s multiple wins on the night, as he took the opportunity to thank South Africans for the love they have shown him for his feature on the song.
Other note-worthy winners include TV personality and rapper, Moozlie, who walked away with the Best Female award, while Nasty C won the Best Male award, along with the Album Of The Year award for his sophomore album, ‘Strings And Bling.’ Both rappers are celebrating their numerous 2018 successes, with Moozlie having released her debut album, ‘Victory,’ which has been well received by fans, and Nasty C being the first South African rapper to receive the YouTube Silver Play Button Plaque.
