The popular jazz festival will be taking place over two days in March 2019, with the likes of Shekhinah, Sho Madjozi and Chaka Khan set to perform.
Music lovers across the country are gearing up for the twentieth annual Cape Town International Jazz Festival, which is set to take place on Friday, 29 March 2019 and on Saturday, 30 March 2019. The popular music festival will be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre and, as in previous years, boasts a stellar line-up.
The likes of ‘Suited’ hit-maker, Shekhinah, jazz legend, Don Laka, Xitshonga rapper, Sho Madjozi and the Grammy-nominated Soweto Gospel Choir are just some of the acts that will take centre stage over the course of the two days. One of the headline acts for this year’s event is the ten-time Grammy award-winning, Chaka Khan.
The Queen of Funk’s career spans over five decades, and she gained her ticket into the music industry as the vocalist of the funk group, Rufus. Her distinct image and vocals set her apart from industry colleagues, leading to her pursuing a solo career and establishing an international fan-base. Since then, various publications have ranked her as one of the most successful artists of all time.
Tickets for the jazz festival are available for purchase on Computicket, and loyal attendees will be glad to know that a weekend pass is also available. Tickets retail between R850 and R1 290. Doors to the Friday show will open at 18:00 on Friday, and at 16:00 on Saturday. The show is set to start at 18:45 on both days.
