[Mac Miller] & [Sia] dropping June 20th. Real & official version approved by Mac’s family & estate. Save the date [and] the word please… with love.” Accompanying this was the single’s cover art, a child-like crayon drawing that depicts Mac Miller as the sun, sporting a Pittsburgh snapback, as well as drawings of 88-Keys, Sia and a dog.
That’s Life marks 88-Keys’ first single as a lead artist in eight years. He commented on how the single came into fruition in an article published by Billboard on Thursday, 13 June 2019, stating: “We all have to forge through the good, the bad and the ugly. Mac came up with the concept for the song stemming from a conversation we had in the studio about relationships as we shared with each other what made the ones we were in at the time special.”
