AKA, Cassper Nyovest and Kwesta all took to Twitter to respond to Scoop Makhathini’s comment suggesting that the “veterans” of local hip-hop should take a break from releasing music.
AKA, Cassper Nyovest and Kwesta all responded to Siyabonga “Scoop Mahathini” Ngwekazi’s comment from the latest episode of The Popcast on Thursday, 9 July 2020. The episode premiered on Tuesday, 7 July 2020, and in the last segment of the show, Scoop Makhathini suggested that the “veterans” of local hip-hop, naming the aforementioned rappers, should take a break.
His suggestion was premised on the belief that if they took a break, hip-hop lovers would be more inclined to listen to up-and-coming rappers. The first to weigh in on the matter was JR on Tuesday, 7 July 2020, by suggesting that the claim needs to be based on facts and not opinion.
AKA, Cassper Nyovest and Kwesta expressed a similar stance in their responses. They all pointed out factual timelines of their releases, poking holes in Scoop Makhathini’s claims.

This doesn't apply to me at all. Firstly, my last album was 2 years ago. My music never ever sounds the same. I am always in the streets hence i catch on to the next SOUND before anyone does whether ke piano or drill. Lastly, my next album drops sep 11th & it's fucking amazing!!! https://t.co/NYKMPV7qI9

Scoop. The newer guys are fighting this fight and killing shit without anyone taking a so called break. Don't shit on their grind just to be seen as a rep for their wave. They don't need you to steal flowers for them. That's stealing credit from them. Nobody moving bro. Its love.
