AKA took to Twitter to assert that he is not interested in receiving the payout from the artists’ COVID-19 relief fund, as announced by Minister Nathi Mthethwa.
AKA took to Twitter on Monday, 3 August 2020, and claimed that the R2 200 COVID-19 relief payout for artists, as announced by Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa, is not enough. The discussion started after the rapper reflected on the detrimental impact of the alcohol ban on employment opportunities. AKA has a vested interest in the industry as he is an ambassador for an alcohol brand, which employs people too.
One social media user then asked how he feels about the proposed payout, to which AKA responded by stating that he is not interested in receiving the payout. The rapper claimed that it is not enough, considering that he is more than just an artist, but an employer as well. He explained that the payout would not cover his expenses, let alone allow him to pay his employees.
