AKA has spoken out for the first time since the tragic passing of his fiancée, Anele Tembe, through a statement issued by his management, T Effect.
T Effect, AKA’s management, took to Twitter on Friday, 23 April 2021, to share a statement on his behalf. This follows the recent passing of his fiancée, Anele “Nelli” Tembe, in Cape Town.
The statement counts as the first word from AKA since the incident, which, to date, has yet to be clarified in the public domain. While the statement confirmed that the rapper is still in mourning and in need of privacy, it also touched on the unfounded allegations being circulated about the rapper’s supposed involvement in the accident.
The statement read, “The tragic loss of Anele has taken a toll on me, emotionally and psychologically. Insinuations and innuendos made on my personhood have made it even more difficult to process and the strain our families have taken is unspeakable – which is why at this time, I choose to retreat to honor my journey, praying that moments of stillness will bring me closer to clarity.”
