DStv has confirmed the return of Big Brother Mzansi, following a seven-year hiatus of the local adaptation due to the last season’s scandal.
DStv released a formal statement on Tuesday, 12 October 2021, to confirm the imminent return of Big Brother Mzansi. The local spin-off of the popular 24-hour reality show last concluded a complete season back in 2014, when Mandla Hlatshwayo won the season. The subsequent season abruptly ended following the impropriety that took place during the season, which resulted in the show being placed on an indefinite hiatus.
Now, DStv has confirmed the imminent return of the show by only writing, “Just in time to heat up summer!! MultiChoice Group and Banijay are pleased to announce that the much-loved Big Brother Mzansi will be making its highly anticipated return to your screens soon, and it promises to be as exciting, entertaining, and action-packed as ever. Big Brother Mzansi is one of 69 adaptations of the Big Brother format worldwide and this year marks 20 years since the first ever Big Brother South Africa.”
Apart from that, little other details are known, such as auditions, premiere date and expectations of the contestants set to be part of the new season.
