Ama Qamata’s name still appears on Gomora credits, despite her leaving

Ama Qamata’s name still appears on the introductory and closing credits of Gomora season one, despite the actress’ departure due to the success of Blood & Water.

Ama Qamata was part of the original cast of Mzansi Magic’s popular drama series, Gomora. She played the teenage daughter of the lead character, Onthathile, played by Katlego Danke. The young and promising actress received much attention for her role, however, her standout role came after. Qamata was later cast as the lead character in Netflix South Africa’s (SA) original teenage drama series, Blood & Water.

It seems that Qamata had shot the first season of Blood & Water before taking up her role as Buhle on Gomora. Therefore, when Blood & Water turned out to be a success and was renewed for a second season, Qamata reprised her role as Puleng in the drama series and left Gomora.

Considering that the current season still features her name in the credits, some believe that she may return to Gomora. However, with filming seemingly complete for season two of Blood & Water and the star still living in Cape Town, it is unclear whether she will be returning for the second season of Gomora.
