In partnership with Domestos, Anele Mdoda has managed to raise enough funds to rebuild new toilets for school children in Lusikisiki in the Eastern Cape.
South African media personality, Anele Mdoda, has successfully raised funds to help combat poor sanitation in schools. On Sunday, 7 July 2019, Anele posted a picture of a headline by a news broadcast show that read, “Anele Mdoda Breaking Ground”. In the post, Anele assured the authenticity of the headline and the news before asking her followers to donate R10 towards raising funds for the toilets. The Domestos-sponsored project is said to have raised enough funds to start a project in Thembalethu Primary School in Lusikisiki. In an earlier post of what seems to be a construction underway of new toilets being built, Anele expressed gratitude towards everyone who has donated thus far. By making the project a success, Anele believes it will restore the dignity of many children and families and will also reduce the amount of fatalities of young children falling into pit toilets or missing school.
Final results of the project at Thembalethu Primary are set to be shared by Anele at the end of July 2019. Although almost finished with this project, Anele says she looks forward to completing yet another one and many more.
The reactions on the post as shared by Anele have been positively received. Media personality Minnie Dlamini Jones responded in the comments section pledging to donate towards the cause. Reactions also included wife to South African Springbok captain Siya Kolisi, Rachel Kolisi, and Terry Pheto.
