Black Coffee discusses the turning point in his career

Black Coffee was a guest on Nasty C’s Zulu Man With Some Power podcast, where he shared insight on how he was able to break into the international music scene.

Black Coffee was the latest guest to appear on Nasty C’s Zulu Man With Some Power podcast. in collaboration with AMPD Studios, which was hosted by Scoop Makhathini. The episode, which premiered on Wednesday, 10 March 2021, on YouTube, saw the internationally renowned DJ reflecting on his rise to fame, as well as how he was able to make a name for himself globally.

He explained that each year, South African musicians such as DJ Fresh and Oskido hosted a South African music conference, which is where he met his manager, Lionel. Upon their first meeting, Lionel asked Black Coffee to perform at a low-paying club in France, where all the patrons happened to know every lyric to his song. Black Coffee explained that he generally does not like to add his own music to his setlists, but considering how well it was received, he decided to add it in for his performance in France.

The DJ credited his success to that night, as that was where he signed to his manager who helped him amplify his career internationally.
