Blood And Water, Netflix’s second African original production, has been renewed for a second season, following the rave reviews in response to the first season.
Blood And Water director, Nosipho Dumisa, was featured in a video on Netflix South Africa’s Twitter page on Monday, 15 June 2020. Nosipho Dumisa was captured surprising the cast members with news of the show being renewed for a second season, leaving them stunned and excited.
Lead actress, Ama Qamata, who plays Puleng Khumalo, stated, “Thanks to everyone that has watched and supported the show. I’m just grateful. I think that is the perfect word to describe how I’m feeling right now.”
Season one of Blood And Water premiered on Wednesday, 20 May 2020, and has been renewed for a second season less than a month later. The season one cliffhanger finale saw Fikile discovering Puleng’s secret and suspicions of them being siblings. After a tumultuous term at Parkhurst College since Puleng’s arrival, Fikile finally confronted her on her hidden agenda, only for Puleng’s backpack to fall to the ground and expose her investigations.
Season two is expected to expand on the new discovery and delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding Fikile’s kidnapping.
