The Bobby Brown Story left many in shock following one of its early scenes’ detailed depiction of his affair with Janet Jackson in his early years.
A two-night biopic detailing the life of Bobby Brown aired on BET this week and provided an in-depth look into the controversial singer’s childhood and his drug addiction. The Bobby Brown Story shocked many fans when one of the early scenes revealed that Brown and Janet Jackson were having an affair while Jackson was in a relationship with Rene Elizondo Jnr, whom she later secretly wed in 1991.
“Already know what the most asked question is going to be. Set the record straight Janet,” one viewer took to Twitter to comment.
Jackson has not commented on the tweets or the biopic and her alleged relationship with Brown.
Brown’s most loyal fans were quick to point out that he had previously discussed his relationship with Jackson in his 2016 memoir Every Little Step. He also opened up about it during an interview on Steve Harvey’s show last year, admitting that he was head over heels in love with her.
“It was a big heartache for me,” he said in the interview. “I had a real crush on her. I mean, I was absolutely head over heels for her.”
Some of the other biopic’s most noteworthy scenes include Brown recalling the fatal stabbing of his childhood best friend, and another re-enacting an emotional fight between him and his future wife, the late Whitney Houston.
