Boity describes Bujy assault as a case of GBV

Boity Thulo has confirmed suspicions that she was assaulted with a bottle and suggested that the circumstances were driven by GBV.

Boity Thulo took to Instagram on Saturday, 2 October 2021, to confirm that she was involved in a physical altercation which resulted in her going to the hospital after she reportedly obtained a head injury. The story first gained traction on Friday, 1 October 2021, when social media users alleged that media personality, Bujy Bikwa, was set to appear at the Midrand Magistrate’s Court on the day. Bikwa was set to appear in front of the judge in light of him allegedly throwing a bottle at Thulo.

Reports suggest that the two media personalities got into a heated argument at an event in Midrand. The argument allegedly turned physical when, according to reports, Bikwa took a bottle and hit Thulo either on the head or face. This resulted in Thulo being hospitalised, which also resulted in her recluse from social media and posting. While Thulo affirmed that she was in fact assaulted, what stuck out was her suggestion of the fight being a case of gender-based violence (GBV).

This as she concluded the official statement by writing, “I have all the faith in the criminal justice system and implore everyone to stand firmly against GBV.” This remark led to cyberbullying, as commentators ridiculed Bikwa over his sexual orientation, suggesting that it cannot be GBV due to his preference.
