Celebrated media personality, Bonang Matheba took to social media to share and commend the remix to her and cousin, Pinkygirl’s ‘champagne anthem’ previously featured on her reality show.
On Sunday, 26 April 2020, a social media user took to Twitter to share a video clip featuring a remixed version of Bonang Matheba and Tebogo “Pinkygirl” Mekgwe’s so-called champagne anthem. The original anthem stems from a video clip from Bonang’s House Of BNG debut launch back in March 2019, featuring Bonang and Pinkygirl girl singing diminutives of the word champagne as they toasted to the launch of her MCC Brut and Brut Rose range. The initial clip went viral, and many have since used the champopo term to refer to champagne.
Bonang initially shared video asking the social media user to share the handle of the creator of the remix. The remix’s creator, Flex the Ninja, commented on Bonang’s status revealing his identity, with Bonang thanking the social media user, describing the video as “fun” and adding that she loves it.
