Burnt Onion Productions celebrates Charmaine Mtinta for new role as Zungazi on The River

Burnt Onion Productions has celebrated acclaimed actress, Charmaine Mtinta’s talent, in light of her new role as Zungazi on 1Magic’s The River.

Burnt Onion Productions took to Twitter on Wednesday, 28 April 2021, to pay homage to the range and versatility of acclaimed and veteran actress, Charmaine Mtinta. Mtinta is the latest addition to the supporting cast of the popular 1Magic telenovela, The River, starring as Zungazi.

Zungazi is the mother of newly added lead character, Emma, played by Lunathi Mampofu. Zungazi has been threatening to reveal that her daughter was supposedly responsible for her father’s death and has been demanding R10 million worth of diamonds for her silence.

The recent episodes have gripped fans as they mark the first storyline given to Mampofu since becoming a lead in The River. Moreover, the storyline sees Mtinta in one of her few antagonistic roles in her illustrious career. Mtinta has given nuanced performances in the past, as in Netflix’s How To Ruin Christmas: The Wedding. However, in this role, there is little comedic relief from her.
