Cassper Nyovest raises R20,000 for charity through celebrity soccer match

Cassper successfully raised funds for charity through his celebrity soccer match held in Soweto on Sunday. The money will be donated to a charity organisation of L-Tido’s choice.

Award-winning musician Cassper Nyovest successfully raised R20,000 for charity through his celebrity soccer match, which was held at the Soweto Nike Centre on Sunday, 16 September 2018. The five-a-side celebrity match’s teams were captained by Cassper Nyovest and Hip-Hop musician L-Tido, and saw some of South Africa’s top personalities going head-to-head.

The friendly match was prompted by a tweet by Cassper on Thursday, 07 June 2018, where he challenged L-Tido to put together a team and show off his soccer skills in a celebrity five-a-side soccer match.

“Yo, you’ve always said you play soccer but I’ve never seen you. How about a 5 on 5 SA Hip-Hop celebrity match? Teach you how to score goals… @L-Tido,” Cassper tweeted. L-Tido accepted the challenge.

The tournament consisted of players such as DJ Speedsta, Me-E, Riky Rick, Kid X, Carpo, DJ Cleo and Kwesta.

Although Cassper scored what people are referring to as the ‘goal of the match’ at the fortieth minute, his team ultimately lost to L-Tido’s. As a result, Cassper handed over R10,000 to the winning team and L-Tido will be donating the R20,000 to a charity organization of his choice.

Cassper has alluded to the fact that the tournament might become an annual event as he took to social media after the game to congratulate L-Tido, and added that he has a year to get ready for the next face-off.
