Dawn Thandeka King, Nozuko Ncayiyane and Mduduzi Mabaso have been announced as the series leads in Mzansi Magic’s upcoming crime thriller, DiepCity.
Dawn Thandeka King, Nozuko Ncayiyane and Mduduzi Mabaso will be starring in Mzansi Magic’s new drama series, DiepCity, set to premiere on Monday, 5 April 2021. Their roles were confirmed in a statement by the channel on Friday, 12 March 2021, which detailed the storyline and their contribution to the show.
DiepCity centres around small-time house burglar, Nox, played by Nozuko Ncayiyane, whose life is turned upside down after her straight-A student younger brother, Sibusiso, played by Tshiamo Molobi, is fatally shot during a house robbery. Sibusiso was not supposed to be part of the robbery, which was set up by a rogue security guard and low-level gangster, Elliot, played by Mduduzi Mabaso.
After being sent to jail, Nox returns to find her family, which still lives in a shack after her alcoholic father, Bonga, played by Hamilton Dlamini, loses his job, while her mother, Thandiwe, played by Dawn Thandeka King, who has not forgiven her for Sibusiso’s death, continues to work as a domestic worker. The storyline centres around Nox’s attempt to repair her relationship with her parents while struggling to change her ways.
