Distruction Boyz announce performance in Mozambique

The pair will be performing alongside Sphamandla Gumede as part of his birthday tour, in Mozambique next month. 

Distruction Boyz took to Twitter on Monday, 7 January 2019, to announce that they would be performing in the Maputo edition of Sphamandla Gumede’s Birthday Tour on Saturday, 9 February 2019.

“Mozambique, we are coming your way for our boy Sphamandla’s birthday celebration,” the duo said in a tweet. Other supporting acts will include Dladla Mshunqisi and DJ LeSoul. The event will be hosted by Nicky and there will be a performance from local artist Voodoo.

The pair are very popular on the local music scene and are well-known for the hit song ‘Omunye’ featuring Benny Maverick and Dladla Mshunqisi. The song is a single from the group’s debut album titled ‘Gqom is the Future’. Other album singles include, ‘Uzophuza Amanzi’, ‘Shut Up & Groove’, ‘Usenzani’ featuring Azzi and ‘Ngoma Yam’ featuring Danger and Efelow

The thirteen-track album features artists Prince Bulo, Tipcee, Rude Boyz, DJ Tira and Cruel Boyz. The pair have also been featured on the songs Pakisha by Dladla Mshunqisi, which also features DJ Tira. Their music videos for Omunye and ‘Madness’ featuring Tipcee have reached nine million and 2.5 million views respectively.

The album was released in October 2017 and was very popular with fans. It earned them a SAMA in the year 2018. General access tickets will cost patrons MZM 1000 while VIP access costs MZM 1500.
