Gqom duo Thobani “Que” Mgobhozi and Zipho “Goldmax” Mthembu, a.k.a Distruction Boyz, are continuing to take their careers to new heights.
The pair is set to perform a pre-match concert at the MTN8 Final on Saturday, 29 September at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
The Distruction Boyz announced the concert over social media on Thursday, 20 September. “Our booking fee just went up by a few millions! The MTN8 Final match will see SuperSport United take on Cape Town City to win the coveted trophy and the staggering R8 million in prize money.
Distruction Boyz shot to fame with the release of their single ‘Omunye’ in late-2017. Despite allegations that the duo had stolen the song from DJ LAG, they went on to release their debut album, Gqom Is The Future, on 20 October 2017. The album was certified gold by the Recording Industry of South Africa, making it the first Gqom album to achieve this status.
