DJ Fresh took to Twitter to implore his followers to assist with donations of any kind, after finding out that Nkosi’s Haven was damaged by a fire.
DJ Fresh was one of the popular media personalities that used his voice for good on Tuesday, 9 June 2020, asking people to make donations of any kind to Nkosi’s Haven. The 947 personality shared screenshot images of the fire that broke out at the children’s home, captioning it, “Please, let’s assist where possible! Even if just one blanket!”
Nkosi’s Haven was named after Nkosi Johnson, who was one of the early voices to advocate for HIV/AIDS awareness in South Africa. His passing at the age of 12 shook the world and gave a face to the pandemic, which had first taken his own parents.
The orphanage was specifically created for children who have lost their parents due to the virus, or abandoned children who have the virus.
