DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small are readying the follow-up to their successful debut EP, Scorpion Kings, revealing the first song they have worked on through social media.
On Friday, 16 August 2019, DJ Maphorisa took to his social media pages to announce that he is set to continue his collaborative efforts with amapiano pioneer, Kabza De Small. The duo is currently working on a new EP that is set for release under the working title of The Return Of The Scorpion Kings, scheduled to be released on Friday, 29 November 2019.
The DJ shared the news through the release of a video which sampled the first song they are working on for the EP. The track features vocals from prominent female vocalists, Thandiswa Mazwai and Busiswa. The EP will be a follow-up to their debut collaborative EP, Scorpion Kings, which was released officially released across all major digital music platforms on Friday, 5 July 2019.
DJ Maphorisa’s caption to the video read, “The Return Of Scorpion Kings EP. Dropping 29 November, we already have Thandiswa Mazwai and Busiswa on this song that I am dancing to, [called] Abuyile Amakhosi. Please comment [and] mention which other artists we should work with and why…”
The first comment suggested that the EP should just feature an all-female line-up, writing, “I’d love to hear these four ladies on a different sound, [because] they [are] way too talented when it comes to their genre; Berita, Bucie, Zahara and Moneoa. Oh and wait, I haven’t heard these two guys on a beat in a while, Shota and Morena The Squire.”
Another suggestion pointed out, “Sjava, I haven’t heard him on that [amapiano] vibe…Plus dude [has] some powerful vocals [and] his writing is also amazing…” Another male artist that was suggested was one that is no stranger to collaborating with amapiano producers and DJs; “Cassper Nyovest [because] we all know that his verse will welcome the summer in a good way.”
