DJ Maphorisa considers virtual Scorpion Kings concert for National Women’s Day

Published on

DJ Maphorisa has shared that depending on the lockdown regulations, he and Scorpion Kings co-creator, Kabza De Small, would consider hosting a virtual concert on National Women’s Day.

DJ Maphorisa shed light on plans for the Scorpion Kings Live At The Sun Arena concert on Monday, 18 May 2020. The concert, which was initially meant to take place in April, was rescheduled to Sunday, 9 August 2020, due to the national lockdown regulations.

A Twitter user urged the acclaimed amapiano duo to host a concert in December, given the uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and lockdown restrictions. Should the country still be under lockdown on Women’s Day, DJ Maphorisa revealed that a virtual concert would be considered. DJ Maphorisa answered the Twitter user with candour, stating that a new date would be announced “immediately when we get to [alert] level one.”

However, he did provide an alternative for the Women’s Day concert, stating that they are working on a virtual concert for the proposed date, if all else fails.
