Dr Tumi made his first public appearance since returning home from jail, for allegedly defrauding the NLC, at the EFF’s Freedom Day commemoration event.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) took to Twitter on Tuesday, 27 April 2021, to announce that the opening for its Freedom Day commemoration event would be led by gospel musician, Dr Tumi. The gospel artist opened the session by performing his breakout single, Nothing Without You, for the EFF members and supporters in attendance.
The performance marked Dr Tumi’s first public appearance since his recent scandal. The No Other God musician made headlines earlier this month when it was alleged that he and his wife, who is also his manager, had been released from jail after paying bail.
The two reportedly turned themselves in amid allegations of having defrauded the National Lotteries Commission (NLC) of approximately R1.5 million. Although Dr Tumi did not release an official statement on the matter, following his release, he returned sporadically to Twitter but has since deleted the tweets and refrained from public appearances.
