Gospel musician, Dumi Mkokstad, and his medical doctor wife, Ziphozenkosi Nzimande, joined Jeannie D on Afternoon Express on Friday, 12 July 2019, to discuss their journey to the altar.
The interview begins with a video clip of Dumi serenading his newly wedded wife at their wedding with a song that he specially composed for the big day.
Asked on when and how the couple first met, Dumi responded by saying that it was as early as when he was eight years old. It was not love at first sight for the couple, and they remained friends for a very long time.
Fast forward to late 2018, the couple initiated a romantic relationship. Dumi later proposed in a private ceremony between the two of them, a week before paying lobola.
On details regarding their wedding, Zipho shared that she had always imagined and small and intimate wedding. She later decided to go all-out for the wedding, however they kept to a short list of guests for their lavish wedding ceremony. The wedding that took place on a Thursday and two days later, the couple celebrated their traditional Zulu wedding, known as Umembeso.
The couple faced a major challenge days after the two weddings when a woman came to the fore with allegations that Dumi had promised to marry her and was later proven to have lied. Although the breakout of the news did not deter Dumi and Zipho’s relationship, Dumi admitted that it was heart-breaking and hurtful.
Dumi and Zipho have since moved on in their relationship growing stronger every day, revealing that their secret weapon to staying together is prayer.
