Dumi Mkokstad shares a list of his Gospel Song of the Year contenders

Ahead of the twelfth SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards, Dumi Mkokstad has shared a list of possible Gospel Song of the Year candidates, asking his followers to pick their favourites.

The twelfth edition of the SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards opened their nomination registration on Monday, 15 July 2019. One of the co-founders of the awards ceremony, Zanele Mbokazi, revealed how in the two days since opening registration they have been flooded with entrants. However, to fuel the fire even further, Dumi Mkokstad took to his social media pages to ask fans to choose, from his list of gospel songs, their four favourite gospel songs of the year.

The singer, who is involved in organising the awards ceremony, used his Instagram page to see which gospel song most people considered to be this year’s Gospel Song Of The Year. In his caption he starts by stating, “Wishing everyone all the best for this year’s Crown Gospel Awards. So far, who’s in your top 4 best gospel songs of 2019?”.

He then provides a list of 14 songs for his followers to choose from. Some of the notable songs and artists he listed include Ewe Getsemane by SbuNoah, Moya Wami by Lebo Sekgobela, Ofana Nawe by Tebello, Ng’yaphumelela by Ayanda Ntanzi, We Pray For More by Ntokozo Mbambo and I Keep Winning by Dr Tumi.

Fans of the individual artists then commented on the post, showing their support for their favourite artists. So far, the post has received over 60 comments since Dumi Mkokstad shared it with no clear leading single that people believe should take the title of Gospel Song of the Year.

Registrations for the twelfth SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards will close on Monday, 16 September 2019. The awards ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, 24 November 2019, and will take place at the Durban ICC.
