Emtee released his long-anticipated album DIY II on Friday, 21 September 2018.
Emtee has been teasing at an album release for quite some time. However, amidst struggles with alcohol and drug addiction earlier this year, many speculated that a new album may be out of the question for the 26-year-old rapper.
Nevertheless, Emtee, who confirmed his sobriety in August 2018, released his fifth studio album titled DIY II on Friday, 21 September 2018.
Emtee took to social media early on Friday morning to announce that the album had debuted at the number 1 spot on the iTunes South Africa Hip-Hop/Rap album chart.
“We are debuting at number 1 on iTunes Yessir, big up to my supporter’s man, you are loved! Get #DIY2 on iTunes now…,” he wrote on Instagram. DIY II is comprised of 13 tracks and features the likes of S’Villa, Snymaan, Saudi, Sims and Sjava.
Emtee celebrated his twenty-sixth birthday on Saturday, 15 September 2018. His first album, Avery, was named after his first-born son with his girlfriend Kendall Chinsamy. The album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry of South Africa on 1 July 2016.
