Producers and power couple, Shona and Connie Ferguson, have announced their upcoming production, Kings Of Jo’burg, releasing in late 2019.
The show, which was developed by their joint production company, Ferguson Films, was originally teased on social media on Tuesday, 21 May 2019, with a series of images showing the behind-the-scene action of an intense scene. The visuals show Shona in a dark robe, staring into the camera, whilst the clipper board is present. The other visuals show different angles of Shona, who appears standing amongst numerous clay pots, as well as seated in a dim-lit room. The post was captioned with “The city will never be the same! RUN”.
He, thereafter, released the official trailer on Instagram on Friday, 7 June 2019, which was reposted by Connie onto her social media pages. The one-minute-long trailer opens with a looming soundtrack which accompanies the clip and continues with quick scenes of a heist that takes place in the city of Johannesburg. A news reporter’s voice is overlaid, which describes a horrific incident that took place in the city centre involving four men. The clip then shows the reporter in a sit-down interview, where she states that only one man had handed himself over to authorities, with the other three remaining unfound. A female-witch character is also seen in the trailer, who orders the men to commit the crimes. Flashing scenes of what transpires is shown at the end of the clip.
The new show stars the likes of Shona Ferguson, Zolisa Xaluva, Masechaba Ndlovu and Tsholo Matshaba. Ferguson Films has yet to reveal the official release date of Kings Of Jo’burg.
