Sizwe Dhlomo faced backlash from Floyd Shivambu, who labelled him as “simplistic” for suggesting that the current unrest will not result in the freeing of Jacob Zuma.
Sizwe Dhlomo took to Twitter on Tuesday, 13 July 2021, to continue his commentary on the current socio-political landscape of the country. Dhlomo, who is a respected voice on the platform, earned a lecture from the Economic Freedom Fighters’ (EFF) Floyd Shivambu on paddling half-truths and misinformation. The comment appeared to be in response to Dhlomo’s recent tweet.
He stated, “Look here guys, Cyril may be a disappointment and all that, but also akukho Zuma wakhishwa ejele la (there will be no freeing of Zuma from prison), so we can maintain peace. Nonsense! The law is the law.”
After his tweet, he explained that he believes that Zuma is in prison due to his own wrongdoings. Dhlomo highlighted that he believes that if Zuma had not been absent without official leave (AWOL) from his Zondo Commission appearance, none of this would have happened.
However, Shivambu refuted this stance as simplistic, stating, “But the law permits for rescission and there’s no such thing as ‘akukho Zuma wakhishwa ejele la’ in law. There are already ConCourt concessions that some interpretations could have been wrong. These things don’t work on emotions my brother. Be simple but don’t be simplistic.”
