Temptation Island SA’s first episode was characterised by the tiff between Gigi Lamayne and Nthabiseng, which occurred during the introduction of the singles.
Showmax took to Twitter on Thursday, 26 August 2021, to reflect on the introduction of the singles during the first episode of Temptation Island South Africa (SA). The local spin-off of the international hit dating reality show debuted on the day. The first episode was characterised by the introduction of the couples and the 20 singles who are part of the show.
The suggestion of conflict between the participants started when the singles introduced themselves to the four couples taking part in the show. The most inflammatory introduction was by rapper, Gigi Lamayne. Lamayane introduced herself by stating, “I’m a musician and I can’t wait to sing on your mic and rap circles around you.”
However, it was when Nthabiseng Maphago responded, “Don’t drop the mic” that Lamayne retaliated by stating, “Don’t drop your man in the pool, baby.” Nthabiseng was not the only one who proved to be jealous, as her partner, MJ Maponya, was also visibly intimidated after Nigerian model, Dainamiaro ‘Dain’ Ogulu introduced himself, stating, “I’m a sexy model from Nigeria. I might be standing on two legs, but my third leg holds me out.”
Moreover, Dain seemed to be the only single male which Precious Khumalo seemed to get along with. Precious has been positioned as the crier of the season, as she cried multiple times during the first episode. This led to many inquiring why she agreed to participate in the first place.
