Ginny & Georgia: Does Georgia get arrested?

Georgia does get arrested at the end of the second season of Ginny & Georgia, but not for murdering Kenny.

The second season of Ginny & Georgia focuses on the lives of the mother-daughter-duo, but also on their newly strained relationship.

Part of the reason for this lack of trust between the two is that Ginny knows that Georgia killed Kenny. However, by the end of the season, Georgia’s past catches up with her and she is arrested on a different murder charge.

What happens in season 2 of Ginny & Georgia?

The second season of Ginny & Georgia premiered on Netflix on 5 January 2023, and it follows Georgia and Ginny as they continue to find their places in the town of Wellsbury.

What sets this season apart from the first is the fact that the narrative focuses on loss of trust between Georgia and Ginny.

Throughout the entire season, Ginny struggles to come to terms with the fact that her mother may not be the person that she thought she was, and Georgia has to face her own insecurities head-on.

Ginny & Georgia: Does Georgia get arrested?

Near the end of the first season of Ginny & Georgia, Gabriel Cordova, the private investigator hired by Kenny Drexel’s ex-wife, reveals everything that he has uncovered about her mother to Ginny– including the real reason that they moved to Wellsbury.

At this point, finding out that her mother had murdered her ex-husband, Kenny, makes Ginny question everything about their lives up to that point.

This is partly why she “borrows” Marcus’s bike to flee to her father’s home at the end of the first season.

Ginny’s lack of trust in Georgia is still evident all throughout the second season of the show, especially in her therapy sessions and her poetry.

Ginny even tells Marcus the truth about what her mother did, which risks exposing Georgia completely.

Even though it is a known fact that Georgia had killed before, twice actually, she manages to keep all of this under wraps for most of the second season, even with Gabriel working hard to expose all of her secrets.

However, keeping her own secrets is not the only important thing happening in Georgia’s life at this point and shortly after her marriage to Paul is finalised, Gabriel barges in with the police to arrest her.

Although Georgia is not arrested for Kenny’s murder, she is arrested on suspicion of murder and the season ends with her in the back of a squad car on the way to having her mug shots taken.

Why do the police arrest Georgia?

Throughout the first and second seasons of the show, viewers see glimpses of Gabriel Cordova, the private investigator who was pretending to be Nick’s teacher boyfriend, trying to make his case against Georgia.

But he never gathers enough evidence to actually pin any of the murders on her.

However, after finding out from Nick that Georgia was in the room when Cynthia’s husband died, Gabriel goes to the police to tell them about his suspicion that Georgia killed Tom Fuller. They then arrest her for his murder, but not for her other crimes.

Did Brianne Howey know about her character’s fate for this season?

Brianne Howey, who plays present-day Georgia on the show, confirmed in an interview that she knew Georgia would not end up getting her fairy tale wedding and living happily ever after even before she read the script which revealed that Georgia gets arrested.

Although Georgia’s fate may be sad, Howey did commend the creator of the show, Sarah Lampert, and the showrunner, Debra J. Fisher, for their unique way that they handled Georgia’s tragic downfall in a funny way.

Will Ginny and Georgia’s relationship ever recover now that she has been arrested?

During the second season of Ginny & Georgia, fans got to see a different side of the relationship between Ginny and Georgia, when they were torn apart by Ginny’s mixed feelings about her mother’s past.

However, when Georgia finds out that Ginny has been self-harming and seeking help through therapy, they start reconnecting with each other and rebuild their relationship.

Ginny even helps Georgia to plan her second wedding after she cancels the initial wedding with her dream venue.

Unfortunately, Georgia’s arrest at the end of this season, paired with the fact that Austin admits to Ginny that he saw what Georgia did, places this restored relationship at risk again.

Fans of the show will have to wait to see if the show is renewed for another season to find out whether Ginny stands by her mother or not.
