Amy has yet to remarry or find an actual love interest on Heartland since the death of her husband Ty in season 14 of the show.
One of the most watched shows on Netflix in 2021 was Heartland. The Canadian drama series, which concluded its fifteenth season in 2021, was touted as the fifth most streamed show on the platform, raking in over 20 billion viewing hours on the platform.
Season 15 gave the viewers the first indication of the title character, Amy Fleming’s intentions of moving on following the surprising death of her primary love interest, Ty Borden, in season 14.
However, following the conclusion of the last season, Amy is yet to remarry or have a love interest that she has actually committed to after losing the love of her life and the father of her only child.
Where is Heartland season 15 on Netflix?
Heartland airs on CBC and CBC Gem before its availability on Netflix. Moreover, the availability of the show on Netflix is based on which region you are in.
Netflix Canada makes Heartland’s most recent seasons available earlier than Netflix US. With Netflix US, the most current season of Heartland is made available in April of the following year.
Therefore, season 15 of Heartland on Netflix US is set to be made available in April 2023. It is believed that this trend will carry on with the upcoming sixteenth season which is currently in production.
Heartland: Does Amy remarry after Ty dies?
Heartland’s most beloved couple was made up of the title character, Amy Fleming, and Ty Borden.
The show is premised, “Spunky teenager Amy is reeling from the sudden death of her mother when she and her grandfather are threatened with the loss of their horse ranch.”
In the show, Amy fell in love with Ty, who she met when he started working on their ranch as a ranch hand. As the seasons progressed, Amy and Ty got married and had their first child together, Lyndy.
In season 13, Ty took a stray bullet that was meant for Amy when a poacher attempted to shoot Amy. But by the conclusion of season 13, Amy and Ty were both safe.
But season 14’s premiere episode was one of the most shocking episodes to date. This is as Ty died in the episode due to fatal complications from the shooting. His death was reportedly as a result of a deep vein thrombosis caused by the shooting.
With Ty dying so surprisingly, season 14 focused on how Amy came to terms with the death by focusing on continuing her plans of establishing a legacy that would outlive her and her now late husband.
In that season, she does not have a love interest. Instead, she meets Logan, who reminds her of a younger version of herself with the same gifts she has with horses.
Similarly, in season 15, Amy does not remarry. But the show does start teasing the possibility of Amy moving on by introducing possible love interests.
Who are Amy’s love interests after Ty dies?
Season 15 provided two possible love interests for Amy to develop a relationship with in the upcoming seasons. The first is Cooper Hues.
Amy and Cooper are working together as Amy is invested in seeing Cooper realise his dream of establishing a horse therapy centre by sourcing funds and donors for the centre.
However, the most touted love interest is Sam Langston, who Amy helped by finding his wild horse. In the later episodes of season 15, Sam hinted at having feelings for Amy. But has yet to act upon his feelings.
Why did Ty die on Heartland?
Ty Borden was portrayed by actor Graham Wardle, who was introduced as part of the original cast of the show back in 2007. Therefore, when Ty died in season 14’s premier episode, it was established that the decision was made by Wardle.
Speaking about his decision, the actor did not go into detail, but shared, “I felt in my heart it was time to move in a new direction… I now host the ‘Time Has Come’ podcast, and there will be a future episode coming out where I plan to share much more about my decision and my appreciation for the 14 years I’ve spent on Heartland.”
Is Heartland cancelled?
Considering that Heartland is a ratings winner on television and on Netflix, the series is most likely not cancelled. In fact, the series is currently in production for season 16.
The upcoming season has been confirmed to be a 15-episode season, which is a five-episode extension from season 15 which had 10 episodes.
Season 16 is set to start its television run on Sunday, 2 October 2022, on CBC and CBC Gem, before its arrival on Netflix.
