How we found out Prince Kaybee and Cassper Nyovest’s boxing match is no more

Prince Kaybee revealed that there is little to no chance that the celebrity boxing match between him and Cassper Nyovest will happen, due to the offer he received.

Prince Kaybee took to Twitter on Wednesday, 28 July 2021, to detail the reason why the much-anticipated boxing match between him and Cassper Nyovest will seemingly not take place. The revelation followed the latest social media flare up between the two musicians. Nyovest was evidently offended by a thread by Prince Kaybee that was arguably subliminally criticising him publicly.

In his thread, Prince Kaybee wrote, “Another thing about celebrities is the disconnect to the fans, they can’t seem to put back value where they got it from. For instance you give away samples to celebrity friends and never to the people that bring the value, so now it creates a talking point but never an impact.”

Nyovest seemed to believe that the post was referencing his Root of Fame sneaker’s promotional campaign. Nyovest has only been seen giving his sneakers to fellow media personalities, including Mihlali Ndamase, Ntando Duma and Kefilwe Mabote. However, the post comes on the back of Nyovest having already been called “disconnected” by Scoop Makhathini on the POPcast, due to his utterances on moving from hip-hop to amapiano.

In an attempt to sway opinion, Nyovest rehashed the sign the papers sentiments by writing, “Sa gago ke go bua mar**e ka nna (All you ever do is talk negatively about me). Sign the boxing contract, get the clout from me knocking your a** out or make a hit. The tweets [aren’t going to] make you more famous or more money. My shoe is doing well, I have the biggest song in the country and I can’t wait to knock you out o mar**e!”

Seeing that Nyovest was aiming to drag out the matter of the boxing match instead of speaking about the matter of being out of touch with his primary fanbase, Prince Kaybee addressed the reasons why the boxing match will most likely not happen. He claimed that he was offered a contract of R350 000. The sum is considerable, however, compared to the suggested R2.5 million Nyovest is meant to make on the match, Prince Kaybee allegedly disputed this and withdrew from the match.

The rapper has yet to respond to the last thread, as he has opted to focus on the continued promotional campaign for the Root of Fame sneaker collection.
