Idols SA has confirmed that the voting lines for the top five contestants have officially opened, following the surprise exit of Nqobie in the latest episode.

Idols South Africa (SA) took to Twitter on Sunday, 24 October 2021, to confirm that the voting lines for the top five contestants are officially open. The announcement came on the back of the surprising exit of fan-favourite contestant, Nqobie, during the latest episode of season 17. Nqobie was touted as the better singer compared to S’22kile, who social media users believed would be next to be eliminated.

The latest episode packed a lot of surprises. As the country counts down to the end of Pride Month, Idols SA 17 aimed to use this past episode to commemorate the significance of the month. First, it was through the surprise invitation of queer guest celebrity judge, Khaya Dladla. Moreover, the show also featured the Mzansi Gay Choir, which has been a recurring feature over the past four seasons.

The top five contestants are S’22kile, Kevin, Karabo, Daylin Sass and Berry. Voting lines are set to close on Tuesday, 26 October 2021, at 22:00, with the reveal of the top four scheduled for Sunday, 31 October 2021, on Mzansi Magic, DStv channel 161, at 17:30.
