Idols SA: Contestants enter the solo round of the competition

This week’s episode of Idols SA sees the contestants entering the solo round of the competition, which has them fighting for their spot in the Top 16.

The upcoming episode of Mzansi Magic’s Idols SA, which airs on Sunday, 11 August 2019, sees the contestants perform solo for this round of the competition, following the dreaded theatre week. Last week, the contestants were made to perform in groups as they battled against each other to secure a place in the Top 32.  This week sees the Top 32 choose their own song, which they will perform with a backing band in front of the judges and their fellow contestants.

The trailer for the upcoming episode shows the singers performing in an arena-styled room, where the band and their fellow contestants surround them. The trailer is captioned with, “After some brutal cuts, it’s time for our Top 32 to make their final bid for a Top 16 spot. Make sure you are front and centre when they raise the bar even higher!”. The judges, comprising Unathi, Somizi and Randall, are seen emotionally moved by the performances, making their decisions that much harder.

The next round of the competition will see the judges choose the Top 16 who will move on to the live performances. Once at the live performance stage, viewers are able to cast their votes each week for their favourite contestant, ultimately leading to the crowning of 2019’s Idols SA winner.

Idols SA airs on Sundays at 17:30 on Mzansi Magic, DStv channel 161.
