Idols SA: The Top 6 take on the highly anticipated showstopper live show

Published on

Sunday night’s episode of Idols SA saw the Top 6 showcase outstanding performances for what is arguably the most anticipated episode of each season – the showstopper live show.

The latest episode of Idols SA, which aired on Sunday, 13 October 2019, saw the stage being set for performances that fans could expect, should their favourite emerge as the ultimate winner. Filled with theatrics, back-up dancers and singers, the Top 6 showcased their creative side by delivering standout performances that would showcase their additional talents as aspiring artists.

The group opened the show with their collective rendition of Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ Old Town Road and Kaygee DaKing and Bizizi performed their hit song, Kokota. The episode saw Luyolo performing NaakMusiQ’s Dance Till You Drop, Virginia with Mafikizolo and Uhuru’s Khona, Nolo with Da Capo and Tresor’s Speed of Sound, Micayla with Fifth Harmony’s Worth It, Sneziey with Tina Turner’s Proud Mary and Viggy with Zanda Zakuza’s Hamba.

Mmangaliso Gumbi was the latest to leave the competition, after failing to get enough votes to make it into the Top 6. Fans shared their disappointment on social media with Nicolette stating, “Mmangaliso is a great vocalist. It goes to show how a bad song choice can end your idol dreams, last week she was indeed the weakest link.” Jabulile Mtshali also commented, “I’m gutted that Mmangaliso left. This is the first time I’m so affected by an elimination. She could have replaced so many of them.”

Idols SA airs on Sundays at 17:00 on Mzansi Magic, DStv channel 161.
