The Avatar: The Way of Water film will eventually be available to stream on the Disney Plus platform but is not currently on the platform yet.
The second Avatar film, called Avatar: The Way of Water had to face significant delays and eventually premiered over a decade after the first film.
Now that the film has been released globally, it is still available to watch in most theatres and although it will be available to stream on Disney Plus eventually, it will not be for a while.

The Avatar: The Way of Water theatrical release
When the first Avatar film became the highest grossing film of all time, it did not take long for James Cameron to confirm that he would be making several sequels to the film.
In 2010, the first two sequels were confirmed and although the original air date for the second movie in the Avatar franchise was originally intended to be in 2014, the development of new technologies and filming methods significantly delayed the film.
After all of these delays, Avatar: The Way of Water, which is also called Avatar 2, finally had its very first London premiere on 6 December 2022 followed by the United States premiere on 16 December 2022.
Is Avatar 2 on Disney Plus?
Loyal fans had been anxiously awaiting the theatrical release of the second Avatar film, Avatar: The Way of Water for some time and this mid-December release proved to be incredibly successful.
Avatar: The Way of Water has now surpassed the profit made by other massively popular films like Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
It has also joined the ranks of the fourth highest grossing film of all time and has grossed over $2 billion globally within just a few months since its release.
However, although the second Avatar film has made a splash at the box-office, not everyone will get the chance to see it while it is still showing in theatres.
Fortunately, if you are one of the people who have not had the chance to view the film yet, but you have been pestered by your friends and family that you really need to watch it, the film will eventually be available on the Disney Plus streaming platform.
Unfortunately, Disney Plus has not made an official announcement about when this new Avatar film will be added to the streaming platform’s library and with such a successful run in theatres, it is unlikely that it will be soon.
As of now, and according to the new releases added to the platform for February 2023, Avatar: The Way of Water is not on Disney Plus just yet.
What is Avatar: The Way of Water about?
Avatar: The Way of Water takes place over ten years after the events of the first Avatar film.
This time around, Jake and Neytiri have their own family of their biological and adopted children, but they still have to fight off the forces that are trying to invade Pandora while trying to keep each other and the rest of the clan safe.
However, when a familiar threat resurfaces, Jake and his family decide that it will be best for them to flee to the Metkayina clan in the Pandoran oceans, where they have to adjust to life in the water.
How to get Disney Plus
When the day does come that Avatar: The Way of Water is available to stream on Disney Plus, you will want to make sure that you have subscribed to the platform so that you can stream this film at your leisure.
To do this, you need to visit the Disney Plus website or download the Disney Plus mobile application.
From there, you can choose whether you want to join a monthly ($11) or yearly ($110) subscription plan and you will be able to follow the prompts to finish setting up your new Disney Plus account.

What else is available to watch on Disney Plus?
While Avatar: The Way of Water is not available on the Disney Plus platform just yet, there are certainly many other entertaining options for you to choose from on this streaming service in the meantime.
This includes the first Avatar (2009) film and the Avatar: The Deep Dive documentary special, both of which will give added context to the second film in the franchise.
However, Disney Plus also has many other shows and films for you to stream that are not part of the Avatar franchise.
