Idols SA has seemingly begun to tout Dineo Ranaka as a suitable replacement for Somizi Mhlongo, as the show remarked on the reaction to Ranaka’s stint last week.
Idols South Africa (SA) took to Twitter on Thursday, 30 September 2021, to reflect on the social media reaction to Dineo Ranaka’s stint as the guest judge during last week’s episode. Ranaka was the third guest judge during the live performances segment of Idols SA 17, in light of resident judge, Somizi Mhlongo’s sabbatical due to his personal matters. Previous guest judges, Buhlebandalo and Lady Du, received tentative reactions.
Seemingly, the public unanimously agreed that Ranaka would make a suitable replacement for Mhlongo on the permanent judging panel. In a first for the singing competition since the feature of guest judges during the live performances, Idols SA took to Twitter and shared a thought piece on the overwhelming response viewers had to Ranaka’s stint. Therefore, it seems that Idols SA might also be swayed into keeping Ranaka on the panel.
In light of the show only revealing its guest judges on the day of the show, viewers will need to tune in on Sunday, 3 October 2021, on Mzansi Magic, DStv channel 161, at 17:30, to find out if Ranaka will return.
