Israel Matseke Zulu fronts new season of SABC 1’s Kick It

SABC 1 has confirmed the return of the substance abuse-focused reality show, Kick It, which features actor and musician, Israel Mateske Zulu as the host of season two.

SABC 1 took to Twitter on Monday, 13 September 2021, to confirm the return of the SABC Education-endorsed reality show, Kick It. The show aims to showcase the gravity of substance abuse within the country. Therefore, new host, Israel Matseke Zulu visits various families who want to help their children or family members fight their addiction. Moreover, through looking into the realities of the people suffering from addiction, the show highlights the scope of the problem locally.

The upcoming new season follows the first season of the show, which won at the South African Film and Television Awards during the 2019 ceremony for Best Factual/Educational Programme. The first season of the show was hosted by kwaito legend, Kabelo Mabalane, who is also a recovered drug addict. Therefore, the show picks a host that the people with drug dependences can resonate with, making Matseke Zulu suited for the role.

Kick It has moved homes to SABC 1 and is set to air on Mondays at 16:30.

Israel Matseke Zulu has been part of the television and film industry for close to two decades. Having made his television debut on Yizo Yizo, his first lead supporting role was on the hit SABC 1 series, Gaz’ Lam, which debuted in 2002. The entertainer’s net worth is undisclosed.
