Following the release of Apple Music’s latest data of the top performing artists in South Africa in the last four years, Joyous Celebration celebrated being the only choral group to make the list.
On Monday, 22 July 2019, Apple Music released data revealing the top ten best performing artists in South African and sub-Saharan Africa in the last four years. Celebrated and popular choral group, Joyous Celebration, made it to two of the top ten listings, making it the only choral and gospel act to make the list. The group took to its social media pages to share and thank their fans for helping it achieve the monumental feat.
Using its social media pages on Tuesday, 23 July 2019, the group posted a screenshot of the listing that announced it as the second Top South African Artist or Group between 2015 and 2019. The group was only outshined by rapper, Nasty C, who was announced as the most streamed artist in South Africa in the past four years.
The group captioned the celebratory post, “Today it’s a Joyous Celebration, Thank you for the love and support. This is one of the reasons we always look forward to seeing you at our shows.”
However, that was not the only top ten listing that Joyous Celebration achieved. The group also made it into the top ten as the eighth most listened to South African album in the past four years. The positioning was for the Joyous Celebration 22: All For You (Live) album that was released on Friday, 8 March 2018.
The group is mentioned in the same lists as some of South Africa’s most popular hip-hop, house, soul and pop musicians, including AKA, Sjava, Black Coffee, Shekhinah, Simmy, Mlindo The Vocalist and Cassper Nyovest.
