Katlego Maboe returned to Instagram to reflect on the biggest lessons he has learnt this past year, through a post titled “Gratitude.”
Katlego Maboe took to Instagram on Tuesday, 3 August 2021, to mark his comeback to the platform. Maboe has been on a social media recluse since October 2020, following the story which halted his career indefinitely. This was after his fiancée shared a video lambasting him for being unfaithful to her, and allegedly placing her life at risk with a sexually transmitted disease (STD) from his escapades. Thereafter, she alleged that he was abusive, which affected his professional career.
In a matter of a day, Maboe was suspended and later fired from SABC 3’s morning show, Expresso. Moreover, he was dropped from his endorsement deals, the biggest of those being as the face of OUTsurance. Thereafter, Maboe went on a social media recluse. However, in light of the problematics now highlighted with cancel culture, due to the ongoing matter of Somizi Mhlongo’s alleged abusive and predatory ways, Maboe returned with a post titled “Gratitude.”
The intention was to seemingly highlight that he has survived the worst of his storm. He wrote, in part, “We are more than our current circumstances and our continued existence and possible future depends on that belief – that tomorrow holds the promise of improvement and betterment of the self and circumstances.”
