Kay Sibiya’s role as Siyanda on Generations: The Legacy is a dream come true for him, as revealed in a recent interview with JustNje about the new character.
Kay Sibiya’s latest television role sees him taking on the character of Siyanda on Generations: The Legacy. In an interview with JustNje on Thursday, 14 January 2021, the actor expressed his gratitude about the opportunity to work on yet another prime-time show, following his previous roles on SABC 1’s Uzalo and Mzansi Magic’s The Queen.
Being an avid Generations fan since he was a young boy, Kay was thrilled to learn that he had been cast to play the half-brother of veteran actor, Vusi Kunene’s character, Jack Mabaso. Jack is known as one of South Africa’s most notorious television villains.
Kay believes that the addition of his character to the storyline has allowed for Jack to show a vulnerable and emotional side, unlike anything viewers have seen before. Kay recalled a moment on set where he couldn’t stop laughing during one of Vusi’s scenes, which he clarified was not out of disrespect, but rather, out of sheer disbelief that the strong-willed Jack Mabaso was being presented in such a different light.
Commenting further on Vusi, Kay stated, “He is such a selfless guy. He often asks me if he should do things differently or try it like this, which is why I am so thankful to him for allowing me to be the best that I can be.”
