The songstress has shared that the process of recording her eighth studio album, noting that it took her on an emotional rollercoaster.
Popular South African songstress Kelly Khumalo has opened up about the process she went through to release her latest album, Unleashed, which is her eighth studio album. The singer has shared that the album took nine months to complete, and much like a pregnancy, it took her on an emotional rollercoaster. The singer notes that she believes Unleashed is her best album yet.
Speaking to local media in an article published on Monday, 15 October 2018, the singer says that she is very excited about the album.
“I must say that this album is by far the best work I have done in the past 15 years,” she said. “I am very excited about it, and it took me nine months to finish this album. I still felt that I could have done more but I had to let it go, it is beautiful though.”
“I went through all sorts of emotions… at some point I was depressed and at some point I felt like I wasn’t giving enough,” she added. “So I’ve gone through all the phases of pregnancy with this album. From the first song, I knew what the album was going to be called, Unleashed.”
While she was still working on the album, Kelly admitted that the album showcases a very unapologetic side of her and her God-given talent. The singer feels that she is in a very good space, which is why she wants to celebrate that through music.
The singer has already released the lead single from the album, which is titled ‘Jehovah,’ and features South African rapper and actor J-Flo, more commonly known as Jesse Suntele.
