Kwesta and DJ Maphorisa reconcile after Ngud’ controversy

Kwesta and DJ Maphorisa appear to have reconciled after the controversy surrounding the success of Ngud’, which DJ Maphorisa suggested he was not given the necessary recognition and compensation for.

Kwesta took to Twitter on Wednesday, 5 May 2021, to affirm that there is no animosity between himself and DJ Maphorisa. The affirmation was in response to DJ Maphorisa’s tweet, in which he asserted that he was not attempting to start a social media feud with the acclaimed rapper.

Suggestions of such stemmed from viral clips of DJ Maphorisa’s Instagram Live video. The hit producer suggested that he was not financially compensated enough for Kwesta’s hit single, which he produced, Ngud’, featuring Cassper Nyovest. The single and its success has been topical amid the tension between former friends and business partners, Kwesta and Nhlamulo “Nota” Baloyi.

In the ongoing and mostly one-sided social media feud, Nota claimed executive production rights to the single, however, many have corroborated that DJ Maphorisa is the one who produced the song. Therefore, when the clips of DJ Maphorisa’s live video went viral and Kwesta was accused of not paying him what he deserved, the one half of Scorpion Kings clarified that his only gripe was not being financially compensated for “giving them a sound.”
