KykNET has detailed the premise of its newly premiered comedy show, G.I.L, following favourable reviews of the first episode of the show.
KykNET, on Tuesday, 6 April 2021, shared a statement detailing the premise of its newest Afrikaans comedy series, Grobbies *Internasionale Lughawe (G.I.L.). The show aired its first episode on Monday, 5 April 2021, which is said to have received rave reviews.
The statement issued by Penguin Films read, in part, “Meet Barry Wiese, an avid and enthusiastic doer who is thrilled when he gets a job managing an *international airport. His enthusiasm takes a dip when he realizes it is less international and more municipal and on the other side of South Africa. He is stuck with a staff team whose excitement and drive are non-existent, but he is determined to make it work.
“Barry (Bennie Fourie) and his unique team will be on TV screens from April in kykNET’s new mocumentary series G.I.L. (Grobbies * Internationale Lughawe).”
Ashley de Lange, Hendrik Cronje, Gershwin Mias, Vele Manenje and Michelle Burgers also form part of the cast.
