Lerato Kganyago accuses Avon of copying her Flutter by LKG brand

Published on

Lerato Kganyago has spoken out about the similarities between Avon’s new eyelash range, which has been named Flutter,  and her Flutter by LKG brand.

Lerato Kganyago took to Twitter on Saturday, 20 February 2021, to express her frustrations with multi-national beauty brand, Avon, after the release of its new Flutter eyelashes. Apart from having the same name as the businesswoman’s Flutter by LKG brand, the product also has similar packaging and an overall look, which infuriated Lerato.

She tweeted, “So, that big company decided to have ‘Flutter’ eyelashes all of a sudden. LOL. And I mean black and gold packaging too…” A user also expressed their disappointment in the brand and questioned why it would try to overshadow a female-owned business by stealing Lerato’s idea, to which she responded, “Dumbfounded.”

A few hours later, Lerato returned with a different view on the situation, alluding to the fact that although it was disappointing, she was happy that Flutter by LKG had made an impact in the market. She concluded, “As small as we are, it’s good to see we [are] affecting the market. Good vibes.”
