Atlanta rapper Lil Yachty is gearing up for the release of his fourth full-length album, Lil Boat 3.

Lil Yachty took to Instagram to announce Lil Boat 3 on Saturday, 4 May 2019, with a promotional video captioned “I just [want to] win… And it’s time again.” The video showcases a pink-dreaded Lil Yachty in the studio with his posse, ending off with ‘LB3 coming soon’ in white block letters on a black background. An unreleased track plays in the background where he raps: “I left out of school without mama’s permission/They wanted me dead, they been hoping and wishing/I’m stealing your bags when I’m put in position/I’m dressed in all white like chef in the kitchen” over an ominous-sounding trap instrumental.

Lil Boat 3 marks the third instalment of Yachty’s Lil Boat series, the first instalment released on Wednesday, 9 March 2016. Lil Boat featured the smash hit One Night, which plummeted Lil Yachty into stardom and sealed him as an up-and-coming rapper to look out for. Lil Boat was followed by multiple records like After Da Boat and Teenage Emotions, before Yachty released Lil Boat 2.

Lil Boat 2 was released two years later on Friday, 9 March 2018. The album spawned the hit singles BOOM! Featuring Ugly God, NBAYOUNGBOAT featuring YoungBoy, Never Broke Again and MICKEY featuring Offset and Lil Baby. Lil Boat 2 also featured a blockbuster line-up of features that included artists like Trippie Redd, Quavo and 2 Chainz.
