House DJ, De Mthuda, released a collaborative single with Njelic called Shesha on Monday, 6 May 2019.
Shesha’s production is influenced by deep house and afro-beats sub-genres. The song’s lyrical composition tells a story of a man calling a woman, who responds to the phone with a resounding “hello!”. After her answer, the man then tells her she should hurry up and get ready because they have somewhere to go. Conscious of the gender politics, the man does not demand, but rather, politely asks the woman if they can go.
The storyline is also incorporated in the single’s cover art, which features a hand holding onto a steamed shower glass pane, with the profile of a shadowed body set in the background of the image.
The single is available for purchase on iTunes.
