DJ Tira released the third single from his upcoming album on Friday, 26 July 2019, a female appreciation single ahead of women’s month in South Africa.
Durban-based producer and DJ, Tira, released Uthando, featuring his Afrotainment hip-hop artists, Duncan, Joocy and Beast, with an additional verse from RapLyf co-founder, Kwesta, on Friday, 26 July 2019. The song is dedicated to women and is aimed at encouraging men to treat women with respect.
DJ Tira has released the single as a challenge and as a kickstart to his Sisters With Soul competition. The competition was first announced on Friday, 19 July 2019, when DJ Tira and vocalist, NaakMusiQ, shared a video across their social media pages detailing the inspiration and purpose of the Sisters With Soul competition. They asked female vocalists to listen to the song and share what a response single from an all-female-led track would sound like. The response song will be led by popular vocalist, Amanda Black.
The Sister With Soul concert set for Saturday, 31 August 2019. The concert has an all-female line-up that is headlined by Amanda Black, Busiswa, Tipcee and celebrated female DJ, Zinhle. The concert is set to take place at the Botanical Gardens in Durban.
More than an awareness single, the mid-tempo song marks DJ Tira’s last standalone single release before his upcoming full-length project. The Amachankura hitmaker has revealed that his next album will be released sometime in August.
The single is available for purchase on Apple Music.
