M-Net has begun scouting for the titular character for season two of The Bachelor South Africa, with applications being opened from today, 24 July 2019.
Contrary to public speculation, season two of The Bachelor franchise will once again host a male lead, as opposed to The Bachelorette, which usually follows a female lead chosen from the prior season’s contestants. According to M-Net, the applications have been opened from today, 24 July 2019, and will see the production team sifting through the entries to make the final decision later this year.
In a statement released on Monday, 15 July 2019, Lani Lombard, M-Net’s Head of Publicity, described the perfect Bachelor as a rare commodity, stating, “The hottest-of-hot single men who are ready to bare their souls on television in order to find the love of their life and settle down are indeed part of a scarce, elusive species. Drop us a hint here if you’re the one or know the man. No chancers, please!”
In a trailer shared by M-Net on Sunday, 14 July 2019, female contestants were invited to enter into the competition for a chance at finding true love. Host, Jason Greer, stated, “We all went along for the journey on season one of M-Net’s The Bachelor and had our hearts broken when the fairy-tale didn’t happen. But we’re giving true love, a second chance.”
According to M-Net, both the prospective bachelor and the contestants are required to be over the age of 21 and have no prior marriage or divorce record.
The Bachelor South Africa is scheduled to premiere in February 2020 on M-Net, DStv channel 101.
