M-Net has confirmed that it is set to replace existing channel, M-Net City, with a new channel, Me, which is set to launch in November 2021.
M-Net took to Twitter on Monday, 4 October 2021, to announce that it will be discontinuing its sister channel, M-Net City, which runs on DStv channel 115. The post indicated that the broadcaster will not leave the channel without new programming, which is set to air under the new channel, Me.
Following the announcement, MultiChoice released a supporting statement sharing details on the upcoming channel, writing, “The launch of Me will see two channels, M-Net City 115 and Vuzu 116, merged to create a bigger, better channel aimed to give viewers their famous, world class series and reality shows in one place.” Going on to add, “M-Net City 115 was launched as a channel where viewers can catch up on the latest and best international series, while Vuzu 116 has always been the true voice of an edgier African youth. Me will feature the best of both its predecessors, while establishing a new identity strategically crafted with the discerning audience in mind.”
Additionally, the statement explained that the targeted demographic is the youth aged between 18 and 34 years old. Moreover, the new channel will also feature repeats. Therefore, viewers should not expect a change in this already established purpose of M-Net City and Vuzu. The channel is set to be available from Monday, 1 November 2021, on DStv channel 115.
